Judy Kranz hails from NYC. While living there she danced with and taught for the great Jazz dance legend, Luigi. She came to Pilates in 2001 and immediately saw its value, earning two mat certifications, then the Comprehensive certification from Power Pilates of NYC.
During her 8 years working for Power Pilates she continued her studies with such luminaries as Bob Liekens, Susan Moran, Allison Laundrie, Juliet Harvey, and Carrie Campbell. In 2009 she became a Teacher Trainer and relished sharing her passion for the benefits of Pilates to future instructors.
Having been a summer kid on the Island since she was three it only seemed natural for her to leave Power Pilates and NYC, so in 2011 she moved to Martha’s Vineyard permanently. She opened her intimate boutique studio in the heart of Oak Bluffs in a Landmark Victorian building.
Island Pilates serves people of all ages and sizes and shapes. Judy feels as at ease with training people with chronic physical issues as she does challenging the strongest athlete. Her teaching is very specific, clear and concise, and brings empathy and humor to the sessions as well. You will leave her sessions with increased awareness, strength, and flexibility and a sense of general well being and happy energy.
Currently she also teaches mat classes at the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard and at the Field Club in Edgartown.
